Revisiting D 2-law for the evaporation of dilute droplets

In a wide range of applications, the estimate droplet evaporation time is based on classical d2-law, which, assuming fast mixing and fixed environmental properties, states that surface decreases linearly with at determined rate. However, in many cases predicted rate overestimated. this Letter, we propose revision d2-law capable to accurately determine dilute conditions by proper asymptotic properties. Besides discussion main assumptions, tested proposed model against data from direct numerical simulations finding an excellent agreement for turbulent jet-sprays.
